i have just finished doing something that has had me giddy since sunday: i emailed my bro in BC.

i have a brother. not blood, but just as good. it started when my older sister met him during university. he came over to the house when she came home for visits. and it became a fairly frequent occurance that mom started calling him anak, and he called her mom. naturally, we adopted him into the family. honorary filipino. it was great he was everything i wanted a big brother to be.

things came to an end when he moved to BC. we lost contact, but thought about him often. in trouble times in the santos household, i really missed him. the past few months, being one of those "times" i set out on a mission, after an almost year-long hiatus, to find big brother again. i started emailing his old email address. and then tried asking some of his friends. when i finally got to the bottom of the list, i received an address and tried it like so many others before it. and on sunday, fingers were crossed and hoping...HE REPLIED!

i've been so happy for the past few days it's unbelievable. even for me. it's great to know that someone who lives so far away, and i haven't talked to in a while, and for that matter seen in a while, has such an impact on me, that i would jump up and down and wake everyone in the house up at midnight to share the good news. i was so happy that i started to cry.

he's coming home in june. i heart the internet.
