heartbroken, but still in love
to 29 players, 7 managers, 7 training staff members, and millions of fans: that made staying up late, screaming until my lungs hurt, premonition nights, dinners consisting of beer and wings, wearing a blue and white sweater, honking my horn for non-traffic related reasons......they made it all worth it. season after season.
we lost in OT to the Flyers last night. i did NOT watch the game, shocking. i was however listening to it on the radio. pride filled me when the leafs forced an overtime in the third period, goals for pilar and sundin (a real captain). and a standing "O" for our boys on home ice makes me proud to be a leafs fan! greatest hockey town there is!
things note-worthy this year:
- DOMI no1 can say he's a useless player now. he really stepped it up this post season. and i'm proud to have his bobble head!
- McCABE when he was good he was good, when he was bad....OH THE HUMANITY! please stay, things can only get better for you! and i would like to exercise your jersey a bit more!
- BELFOUR u stepped in for my broken CuJo and have been nothing short of AMAZING!!
- MOGILNY somewhere along the way u lost motivation, and i'm glad it came back
- NIEUWENDYK your energy and enthusiasm for the sport needs to be bottled, packaged and sold to every single Senator fan out there. not to the players tho, that would be like signing a contract with defeat.
- BERG learn to LOVE the bench....FOR THE LOVE OF GOD! PLEASE!!
- THE TEAM you all rock! thanks for a GREAT '03-'04 season!!
the loss hurts like a break-up. but i L O V E the leafs, and have faith that next season will be just as good. and just as amazing.
go LEAFS go, even if it is just on your golf swing! ; )
good luck to Calgary and Tampa Bay!
