mini me
oh man! what a morning!! trying to make it to an 11am session...getting caught in traffic, and then the avoidance of traffic by going into sepparate traffic altogether, and then having that followed by even MORE traffic. yes it was a traffic filled morning! my sister, gerky and i finally made it to Downsview Park for this year's Mini Test-Fly!! shockingly, only 5 minutes late! damn!
i have been stoked for this event for a while now. and even now thinking about going through with it i get shivers. i have never been able to go crazy wild on ANA, or drive another standard transmission car. this was my oppurtunity, and oh man did i ever seize it!
unfortunately by the time we had arrived at downsview park we were just in time to miss the time session we had signed up for. boo for waiting for my sister to get ready. double-boo for the traffic. triple-boo for us not knowing how to get into the park (we probably took the long way in). but no boo for me! because i'm too exciting, and this is MY BLOG. thank goodness we were able to join the next group at 12. which in the end worked out a lot better. we got to see our friends drive around before us, which really built up the excitement and the laughs. did i mention the leafs mini? WOOOOOO FOR THE LEAFS MINI!!!
the chances of me getting kicked by mafu for putting this up here..is VERY high! but what can you do. did i mention it's MY BLOG?! excellent!
SIDE NOTE: we were on time to see the mojo truck smash it's window against a chainlink fence and explode!! (the window, not the truck! would i be typing this if it were the truck?) now why they kept on driving when they hit the fence?!? yes! the window will not explode if you keep applying pressure to a metal fence. really! it won't!
it's amazing how quickly really time does fly when you're having fun.
an hour has passed since we first arrived and it is our turn for the 15 minute lecture from, what i think, is one of the BMW driving class instructors. he's informative and funny, perfect combination for my learning retention. i think when the resources are available i would like to take the course.
driving was a whole new level of fun. at first i was nervous, having fears of breaking a $30G car. after the first time around (in the 5-speed Cooper) all inhibitions were let loose and i tore up the track when in the CVT (automatic/step-tronic) and the almighty CooperS (6-speed manual). i was deemed "speedy" by our team leader. and the more i say it, i think it was a compliment? sweet.
by the end of the session, i was so ecstatically in love with Mini. that i seriously contimplated trading my car in for one....for about 5 seconds. i love my ANA!! again, when the resources are available i wouldn't mind having a mini to kick around every now and then...
abusing the SWAG, i highly anticipate next year's test fly.
