payback mr. sandman
by now, you should not be surprised at all, i am tired. my sleep binge last friday is not allowing for any kind of buffer in terms of lack of sleep. it was an absolutely lovely experience, but it is not working out to anyone's advantadge especially mine. eyes...so...droopy
for those who don't know. from 6pm to 8am the next morning, on friday [may.7.04], i was a gluttoness little slumber head. of course, after my cousin's wedding. 14 hours! that is a long time..a very long time.
i recall waking up for a whole 2 minutes while i went to the washroom. but i swear it was the longest sleep i have had in a long time. and although i wish i had woken up with the energy of a jack rabbit, i did not. it's funny the progression of your sleep pattern during life...
when you're a baby...you can't do much anyway, outside of eating, washrooming, and well sleeping. that's pretty much it. your final sleep of the night, on a good night, goes from 9 until 7 the next morning at which point you repeat the cycle of eat, sleep, poop, eat, sleep, poop, cry, eat, cry....and maybe another nap for good measure. god damn! i miss that!
you pretty much go through this cycle of sleeping, eating, pooping until you're about 4. in between birth and here, the only variations you can manage are to go through each step in the cycle on your own. and then you hit school. you actually have something more to do in a day, make something of your mind and mold it to be something bigger and better than a poop machine. but u sleep none the less for majority of your day. in between nap times, story time, drawing with crayons (i love crayons), play time, and snack time....really life didn't get any better than this.
it's when a school day turned into a whole day affair that u suddenly realize OH CRAP! i've got to get through the day actually doing shit! and it continues like this for years and years and YEARS of schooling. in between slowly losing an hour here and there doing homework, and then later trying to figure out why u can't wake up for school anymore.
by the time you hit the point in your life where you need to start your career. you've learned the value of sleep. never sacrificing a moment, trying to catch a nap anywhere! on the subway to work, on your night's off, or like my parents, when u do ANYTHING!!
and when the day comes. you start the program again. wheening your children to sleep for 80% of their lives until they reach a responsible age and it slowly creeps backwards and the sandman, sends the repo man to get his sand back. DAMN YOU MR. SANDMAN!
